Smith Mountain Lake offers over 500 miles of beautiful shoreline for visitors to explore. From fishing in a peaceful cove to jet skiing with friends, spending time on the water is by far the most popular activity at SML. The area also boasts two public beaches that offer a multitude of amenities at little to no cost.
Smith Mountain Lake State Park
The 500-foot public beach at Smith Mountain Lake State Park is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day and offers guarded beach swimming for a fee. (If guarded swimming is unavailable, guests may swim in the designated area at their own risk.) The SML State Park has a snack bar on site, as well as boat rentals, picnic shelters, trails, fishing piers, and boat ramps. Cabins and camp sites are available for rental as well.
The Smith Mountain Lake State Park is located on the North Shore of SML in Huddleston.
