Kay DeGiorgi Bio
When Mike and I moved to Smith Mountain Lake in 2005, I relocated my real estate business from Fairfax, VA to Moneta, VA (at SML). Having sold real estate in the greater Northern Virginia area since 1991, Smith Mountain Lake provided a wonderful opportunity to learn, and work in, a new real estate market. A 22,000 acre lake with 500 miles of shoreline, a shoreline overseen by AEP and three counties bordering the lake provided me with plenty to learn in a short period of time! It has been a wonderful experience to help educate people from all over the country as they look for their dream homes on the lake!
When Mike joined me in 2014, our complimentary skill sets created a true full-service team. Mike’s background as an educator along with his listening and problem solving skills, combined with my attention to detail and customer service and marketing skills, provides our customers with service above and beyond the norm. Whether selling your home here or looking to buy, we are happy to help and have a list of very satisfied customers (see the Testimonials tab!).
Mike DeGiorgi Bio
I moved from Northern VA to Smith Mountain Lake 10 years ago with my wife Kay, who in 2014 recruited me to join Lake and Land Realty. I’ve spent the last 30 years traveling the globe as a management consultant, executive coach and management training expert. My clients included: Microsoft, Ericsson, The US Department of Defense, Marriott and Ernst and Young. Prior to my corporate life, I was a counselor, who specialized in working with adolescents and their families. I’ve served on many non- profit boards, devoted to helping children in Virginia.
I believe in being “all in” when it comes to serving the SML community. currently, I serve on the board of the Franklin County Department of Social Services. I’m Special Events Chairman of the Smith Mountain Arts Council and Vice-President of the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association. I love to play and collect guitars and can often be heard playing around the lake with my band, The Panini Brothers.
My approach to helping real estate clients is to first listen very hard for what your needs are and then to help further refine and clarify them. Helping clients to stay focused, realistic and on the same page is key to making such a life changing decision. I’ll answer your questions honestly and directly. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll research it until I do!
The home we built on SML is a Lindal Cedar Home. Because of their unique post and beam structure, I’ve become pretty knowledgeable about the design and floor-plan options of log homes and other post and beam homes. If that’s a part of your lake dream, I’d be a good resource!
